• TSA Lean Six Sigma

  • HGS supported the TSA Office of Security Operations (OSO) leadership to stand up a fully operational Lean Six Sigma (LSS) program office. HGS supported the LSS Program Office by training and developing a cadre of TSA process improvement experts (Black Belts and Master Black Belts) and Project Leads (Green Belts) to address organizational and operational performance areas at TSA headquarters and in every airport in the field.  HGS also led LSS Enterprise level projects and conducted organizational analyses to target process improvements, and then executed focused strategic, operational, and tactical action plans.

HGS provided web application development of a new Security Incident Reporting Tool (SIRT) that provides standardized definitions and responses, decision logic, and corrective actions to enable consistent security incident reporting. Previously, TSA had a paper-based process. The result of HGS LSS replaced that paper process with a Web-based solution that allowed input of security incident information and a 24x7 reporting capability. SIRT creates multi-level, executive dashboards to display results in near real time, allowing TSA leadership to get a real-time dashboard view – by region, by airport. HGS designed, developed, and delivered SIRT from concept to full operational capability in 6 months. SIRT saved TSA up to $10M in COTS products and on-going maintenance fees.
